In
Luke 15:13, we read of the prodigal son going into the "far country".
In Luke 15:20-22, we read of the joy of his homecoming -"So he got up
and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his
father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his
son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. The son said to him,
'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer
worthy to be called your son.' But the father said to his servants,
'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger
and sandals on his feet."

In Philippians 2:8, we read
of Jesus going into "the far country" (Luke 15:13) - "He humbled Himself
and became obedient to death - even death on a cross!" - so that we
might have an even greatest Homecoming of all - Christ has been "exalted
... to the highest place." He has been given "the Name that is above
every name." What a day it will be when "at the Name of Jesus every knee
shall bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father"
(Philippians 2:9-11).
