Pointing away from ourselves to Jesus - There is nothing more important than this.

"In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar—when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene— during the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness." (Luke 3:1-2)
The big names were all bypassed. The Lord chose John. The big names were living he world's way. John lived the Lord's way. The big names were soon forgotten. They were not as important as they thought they were. John was more important than they were. Why? - Because he was God's man. The hand of the Lord was upon him. The Word of the Lord came to him. He spoke the Word of the Lord. He did not draw attention to himself. He pointed away from himself to Jesus. Pointing away from ourselves to Jesus - There is nothing more important than this.
