Elijah answered, “I haven’t troubled Israel. You and your father’s family have done it by disobeying the Lord’s commands and following the various Baal gods" (1 Kings 18:17-18).
Was
Elijah a troublemaker? Ahab thought so. Ahab didn't like what Elijah had
to say to him.He would be glad to see the back of Elijah. He wished
Elijah would go away and leave him alone. Ahab was missing the point of
Elijah's forthright preaching. Ahab needed the 'trouble' that Elijah was
causing. If Ahab and the people of Israel were going to be delivered
from the real 'trouble', they needed to start listening to Elijah and
start doing what Elijah was telling them to do - turn away from the
false gods and turn to the true God.
