"Don’t
you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit
dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy
that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that
temple" (1 Corinthians 3:16-17).
God has given us a great
privilege - "you yourselves are God's temple... God's Spirit dwells in
your midst." He's given us a great responsibility - we must take care
of "God's temple." When God's Spirit comes into our hearts, what does He
do? Does He give us a feeling of superiority - we're better than they
are? No! He calls upon us to search our hearts more deeply: "Search me, O
God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there
be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting" (Psalm
139:23-24).
